Decaf & Low-Caffeine Coffees

Decaf collects every bean on the site that is decaf, half-caf, quarter-caf, or naturally low-caffeine. Modern decaffeination (Swiss Water, Ethyl Acetate / Sugarcane EA) preserves enough cup quality that specialty roasters now stock decaf seriously — and there are real, naturally low-caffeine varietals like Laurina worth trying alongside.

Two things have changed about decaf in the last few years. First, the processes got better — Swiss Water (water-only, organic-friendly) and EA / Sugarcane (a fermentation-derived solvent, often labeled "natural decaf") strip caffeine while leaving most of the cup's character intact. The harsh, hollow decaf cup of a decade ago is rare today. Second, naturally low-caffeine varietals like Laurina are showing up in specialty roasters' lineups; these aren't decaffeinated at all — they just contain about half the caffeine of a typical Arabica.

The collection here filters down to anything in the bean catalogue whose name, story, process, or roaster note marks it as decaf, half-caf, low-caf, Swiss Water, or EA-processed. Brew-wise, treat decafs the way you'd treat the equivalent caffeinated bean — a Swiss Water Ethiopian wants the same V60 you'd use for a regular Ethiopian, and a natural-process EA Brazilian pulls espresso the same way the caffeinated version does.

Good for evenings, pregnancy, sensitivity, or just wanting more cups in a day without the buzz.
