Specialty coffee at this price tier is genuinely scarce. A $200 100g bag of Panama Gesha isn't priced that way because the roaster is greedy — it's because the producer harvested fewer than fifty kilos of that particular lot, and the auction it cleared at saw bidders from a dozen countries competing for kilo allocations. Same for the more recent wave of competition-tier anaerobic ferments out of Colombia and Costa Rica.

Beans in this collection are unified by the price floor ($0.32/g), but they diverge wildly in profile. Some are aromatic floral light roasts you treat like a fine tea. Others are heavily-fermented experimental lots that taste closer to wine than to coffee. What they share is information density per cup — every brewing variable matters more, every nuance is worth chasing, and the roasted dates are usually within the last two to three weeks because these lots move fast.
