“Mustefa Abakeno runs an 18-hectare farm and washing station in Beshasha Kebele, in Ethiopia's Limu region, and processes cherry from a little over 200 outgrowers, three dozen of whom farm right next door. He practises regenerative farming - routine pruning and stumping, composted pulp, milling byproducts returned to the soil - and helped form both the Hunda Oli cooperative and the Kata Meduga Cooperative Union. In 2018 he was among the first smallholders to hold his own export licence. This washed lot is planted mostly with 74110 and 74112 at 1,950-2,100 metres and is certified organic; Rogue Wave roasts it for filter and espresso.”
