"An efficient cold brew method using puck percolation to maximize extraction and richness in minimal time."

Tips & Preparation
#Background
- Traditional cold brew requires 6-24 hours; this method achieves similar richness in under 5 minutes.
- The 'Puck Percolation' method is superior to immersion for room temperature water as it actively washes solubles from the grounds.
#Preparation
- Use a bottom paper filter in the AeroPress cap.
- Place 15g of coffee, level the bed by shaking, then place a second paper filter on top of the grounds.
- Tamp the top filter to compact the coffee puck.
#Adjustments
- If the cup lacks body, stop pressing midway to let the coffee steep for an additional minute before finishing the press.
- If the press is too difficult, grind slightly coarser or reduce the water amount.
Recipe Steps
0:00
Add 150g of room temperature water to the prepared AeroPress and insert the plunger.
0:15
Begin pressing the coffee, maintaining a steady, slow pressure through the puck.
0:30
The Pause / Steep: Stop pressing. Leave the plunger sealed in place and let the water rest inside the puck for 1 minute (until 1:30). This allows the fresh water within the puck to dissolve more solubles.
1:30
The Slow Press: Resume pressing down very slowly and steadily. Aim to take about 2 to 2.5 minutes to push the remaining liquid through the fine bed.
4:00
Finish: Press down to the hiss. Remove the AeroPress and enjoy the rich cold brew concentrate as-is, or dilute with cold water/ice to your preference.
