Highlights
“Mumbi is a washed lot from smallholder farms around Nyeri, on the red volcanic soils below the Aberdare range where Kenya's best-known cooperatives sit. The growers deliver cherry from plots planted to Ruiru 11 alongside the older SL selections, and the washing station ferments and rinses the parchment before the coffee dries slowly on raised beds. Waco roasts it in A Coruña and keeps the profile clean rather than dark: red grape and nectarine up front, pomelo acidity through the middle, a hazelnut sweetness on the finish. Grown between 1,700 and 1,780 metres. Good as a filter and, ground finer, as a bright single-origin espresso.”
