Highlights
“This anaerobic natural lot comes from Lalesa in Gedeb woreda, Ethiopia, processed at a site owned by Ephtah Specialty Coffee that sits at approximately 2,150 to 2,200 metres and is the largest drying site in Gedeb. Coffee in the area grows naturally under shade trees, mainly Ensete, and the lot is made up of local heirloom cultivars harvested between December and January. Cherry is fermented in plastic barrels for nine days, then dried for around 13 to 18 days before resting in the site warehouse and moving to Addis Ababa. Farmers receive an initial payment as soon as their coffee is received, and Ephtah runs social programmes in the area including a daycare centre for farmers' children.”
