Highlights
“Oneska is the small estate of Onesmus Njagi, a retired schoolteacher, and his wife Karen, on the slopes of Mount Kenya in Embu County. The name is a portmanteau of the couple, who established the farm in the early 1990s and grow traditional SL-28 and SL-34 over four hectares. Processing is the classic Kenyan double fermentation: 20 hours dry, a wash, then a 24-hour soak in fresh water before drying. Tandem finds the cup tamer in acidity than other Kenyans this year, with preserved fruit, browning sugar sweetness and black tea.”
