“El Sueño comes from Chiapas, the contrasting south-west of Mexico where coastal plain, valleys, mountains and tropical forest meet. Tanat decaffeinates it with a natural water process — the green beans are soaked so the caffeine leaves and the aromatics stay — then roasts it dark for espresso and automatic machines. Dark chocolate and caramel, medium body, balanced and sweet: a decaf that does not read as a compromise. 80 points, 200 g at €9.90.”
