Highlights
“Tanat brought Tamiru Tadesse's Alo coffees to Europe for the first time in 2024, and this lot is one of the reason they keep buying: perfectly ripe cherries are hand-selected and put into hermetic tanks with mosto for a 96-hour anaerobic fermentation. That slow, sealed ferment builds the aromatics — pineapple, lacto-fermented strawberry and coconut — without losing clarity. Tamiru, a former university teacher and electrical engineer, founded Alo Coffee with his wife Messi; their first-ever Cup of Excellence entry, a lot from their home village of Alo in Bensa, won Ethiopia's 2021 competition. Variety JARC 74158, 2026 harvest, 88 points, roasted for filter, 200 g at €23.90.”
