Highlights
“Part of Swerl's Odd Bean collection, this no-waste lot gives leftover beans a longer life. The natural-processed SL28 comes from 11 farmers in Kyabwire village, Kazingo, in the Rwenzori Mountains of Western Uganda, brought together by Empaako Collective. Cherries are floated and sorted three times, fermented in sealed barrels for 48-72 hours, dried on raised beds, then undergo a second 120-hour fermentation in the dark to boost sugar. Most lots here are under 0.75 acres — too small for traditional export — so the collective's transparent, community-verified sourcing makes this first-season Ugandan lot possible.”
