“Angel Ortega is a second-generation coffee grower from San Agustin, Huila. He started working with coffee as a teenager alongside his father and brother. In 1985, at age 24, he planted 10,000 trees of the Colombia variety in the Kennedy zone. Over four decades, he's seen the region transform from arid soils to a thriving coffee area with nearly 6000 growers. In 2018, he achieved his first micro-lot sale under his own name, and now works with roasters who pay premium prices upfront.”
