Highlights
“Kithuthu is a farming community on the foothills of the Rwenzori mountains in Uganda, where most growers work one to two acres of coffee as their main cash crop. SkyLark sourced this lot through Agri Evolve, which runs a local buying centre that weighs, assesses and pays for cherries in cash, then trucks them to its coffee station at Nyabirongo. The cherries sat in tanks of water for 48 hours of anaerobic fermentation before being dried on raised beds as a natural, with a selection of overripe cherries piled deep to push fermentation further. Elevation 1,600-1,800 m, varieties SL14 and SL28 with older regional landraces, cup score 87.”
