Highlights
“Muchagara Factory takes its name from a village on the western side of Kirinyaga District near Mt. Kenya and has been processing since 1959, making it the oldest wet mill in the region. The factory serves more than 1,500 members of the Baragwi Farmers’ Cooperative Society, with 200 drying tables and graded fermentation channels. Coffees are dry fermented, washed and graded in fresh river water, then sun dried on raised beds. This AB lot grows at 1,700–1,800 masl on a mix of SL-28, SL-34, Batian and Ruiru. In the cup: juicy tart black currants, grapefruit acidity and fig sweetness, with a silky body and a sparkling finish. This is September’s extra-light roast variant of Muchagara.”
