“This is September's first coffee from Getachew Zekele, grown on his Tero farm in Guji, Ethiopia. The washed landrace — cultivars 74110 and 74112 at 2,000 masl — carries an incredible honey sweetness and jasmine florality, with tropical notes that remind the roaster of melons and apricots. After years saving as an accountant, Getachew bought land in Shakiso and planted his first tree in 2009; his operation now includes its own washing station at Dimtu and a dry mill, and its outgrower programme registers and maps every contributing farm, trains in agronomy and processing, and pays pre-harvest financing.”
