“Abdo Aba Mecha is a member of the Tokuma group in Agaro, Ethiopia, a collective of small farmers pushing traceability and producer autonomy in a country where coffee has long moved through the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange. Tokuma lots are made up solely of coffee the members grow themselves rather than cherries bought from neighbors, which keeps traceability tight and production costs low. This is the roaster's second year buying Abdo's natural, though last year it only appeared as a component of their year-round blend; this harvest it moves onto the single origin menu. Slow drying in cool conditions is why the naturals read clean and elegant rather than heavy: blueberry and white peach over mango, with lavender florals in the finish. Varieties are 74110 and 74112, grown between 2,000 and 2,100 masl.”
