“Mama Sierra is a women-led sourcing project in Giraldo, Antioquia, started in March 2021 by Yessica Parra and carried forward by Sirley Pulgarin of The Coffee Quest Colombia. Fifteen members work the project, which exists to open access to training and resources that women producers are too often shut out of. This lot is Caturra, grown at almost 2,000 metres where the variety performs well, then given a straightforward washed process and dried on raised beds. Nothing is dressed up here: the cup is nutty, fruity and chocolatey, with real sweetness and a clean mouthfeel, and it holds up in espresso as readily as it does in filter. Rose positions it as the everyday bag - dependable, well priced, and easy to drink daily.”
