Highlights
“Sawubona Coffee Farm sits in the Tizingal area of Panama's Chiriqui Highlands at 1,450 metres, where coffee grows in rocky volcanic soil left by the Colorado-Tizingal volcano. Juan, a South African who spent two decades in Los Angeles, bought the land in 2005; with Coralia he planted the estate in 2017 and now manages every step from seed to cup. Shade from native trees shelters a diverse mix of flora and fauna, and the farm grows micro lots of Pacamara, Red Bourbon, Catuai and Castillo de Naranjal. The name comes from the Zulu greeting 'I see you' - a nod to producing coffee with the drinker in mind.”
