“We're starting off the Kenyan coffee season with a peaberry from the Gachatha factory. SL28 and SL34 cultivars released by Scott Laboratories in the 1930s are well known for their high cup quality. Their deep root systems enable the trees to tap limited water resources and thrive without irrigation. Ruiru 11 is resistant to both coffee berry disease and leaf rust. The combination of these varieties strikes a good balance between quality, production yield and disease-resistance, offering the highest possible stability in production and income.”
