Highlights
“Debakul Farm Village is a washing station in the rural town of Yeche Elfeta, in the Limu Kossa district of Ethiopia's Jimma Zone, where heirloom varietals grow in red clay soils fed by spring water and heavy rainfall. The station serves between 400 and 600 farmers from the surrounding village, most working backyard plots of about half a hectare alongside cereals and fruit, with animal-based fertiliser and no chemical inputs. Harvest runs November through January; for this natural lot the cherries dry whole on raised beds for roughly two weeks before trucking to a dry mill in Addis Ababa. Queen City sourced it through Kidane Teklu of Denver-based Leafy Coffee.”
