“Don Alejandro Morales planted the first Bourbon and Typica trees at Finca Rosma in 1963, when everything reached the farm by mule. His son Dr. Fredy Morales took over in 1980, helped build the road the area still uses and piped spring water five kilometres to the farm, unlocking an ecological wet mill and a new level of cup quality. Rosma took second place at the 2010 Cup of Excellence, repeated top-20 finishes and won national honors in 2015, 2016 and 2019; Fredy then founded Rosma Coffeelands so neighbouring Huehuetenango smallholders could export together.”
