“Ecuador is often called the country of four worlds - coast, highlands, Amazon and Galapagos - and this lot leans on the highland one, uniting two producers farming side by side in Puyango, Loja. Margeory Herrera runs Finca Boladeros at 1,860 masl between guabo, mango and citrus trees beside native forest; Santos Rogel farms Finca Don Beto at 1,950 masl, forty years in coffee and fully organic since 2019. Both dried the cherries as naturals, the oldest method there is and still the one that shows off Loja's fruit.”
