“Proyecto Ojo de Agua sits in Ciudad Vieja, one of the earliest places coffee was planted in Guatemala, on the volcanic slopes of Volcan de Agua. It began in 2024 as a collective of eight smallholder families delivering fully ripe red Bourbon cherries to Beneficio La Esperanza, the wet mill run by Los Volcanes Coffee, and has grown to nearly 40 producers for the 2025-2026 harvest. The arrangement brought traceability, process consistency and post-harvest control to growers who farm small parcels under native shade, while paying above local market prices and returning cup-quality feedback to each producer. Nutrient-rich Sacatepequez soils and cool mountain air give the coffee its slow-ripened density.”
