Highlights
“This coffee comes from the Huye region in southern Rwanda, where coffee is cultivated on high plateaus ranging from 1500 to 2000 meters. Simbi Coffee Washing Station began operations in 2013 and was the first station established by Simbi Coffee Investment Company in the region. Its owner, Abdul, entered the coffee industry after being encouraged by his grandmother, a coffee farmer. The station processes Bourbon varieties from a cooperative of approximately 250 members, 60% of whom are women, from Simbi, Maraba, Sovu, Kigoma, and nearby villages. Coffees produced here have received recognition in the Cup of Excellence. The medium-dark roast brings out cocoa, dried orange, dark cherry, roasted almond, and molasses notes.”
