Highlights
“Gachika Coffee Factory was established in 1985 and sits in Gatundu, Kiambu, at 1,898 masl in an area cool enough that it would normally suit tea. Around 750 smallholder farmers deliver ripe cherry there, growing SL28 alongside Batian and Ruiru 11 on red volcanic soil, and the slow highland maturation gives the cup its dense sweetness. Cherry is pulped and washed with clean water from the Tetu river, soaked, then dried slowly on African beds with repeated hand sorting. Passage cups grapefruit and orange up front, then red grape, pear and honey.”
