Highlights
“Nylon's eighth consecutive year buying from Marysabel Caballero and Moises Herrera, who tend 35 farms around Marcala, Honduras, including Finca El Puente where the relationship began. Marysabel is a fourth-generation coffee farmer whose family's roots in Honduran coffee stretch back to 1907; Moises came from a coffee career in Guatemala before work brought him to Honduras in 1992, and the pair married in 1996. In 2020 they relocated their processing facilities to a gravity-fed design that cuts water consumption. This lot, named Injertos, is the Batian variety - more commonly seen in Kenya - harvested in March and washed traditionally before 15 days on raised beds. The cup is blackberry and currant with hawthorn, closing on a longan-like sweetness. Only five roasts were produced.”
