“Chilaka is one of the processing stations Alo Coffee works with in Bensa, Sidama. Tamiru Tadesse, a former university teacher and electrical engineer, founded Alo Coffee with his wife Messi in 2020 to give the coffees of his home area and its small producers the recognition they deserve; one of their first lots took first place at the 2021 Cup of Excellence Ethiopia with 90.60 points. The team works with smallholders across several stations and combines traditional washed and natural methods with anaerobic and must, mucilage or cherry fermentations. This lot is a natural 74158 grown between 2,100 and 2,300 masl, expressive and sweet-fruited.”
