“Ratnagiri Estate is a 117-hectare shade farm in the Western Ghats near Bababudangiri, the birthplace of Indian coffee, and the Patre family has worked it since 1927.The Jeri Patte block at 4,200 ft supplied this Catuai at 23.9 Brix. Ashok Patre ferments it 68 hours with lab-cultured microbes, lactic acid bacteria and watermelon pulp under CO2, then dries the cherries seven days at 20% humidity. Squash melon opens the cup, watermelon and honeydew hold it, ripe banana and long sweetness carry the finish.”
