“From Umalila Farmers Cooperative in the Mbeya highlands of Tanzania at 1759 meters. The cooperative unites around 250 smallholder farmers and introduced a Central Processing Unit in 2021, transforming from fragmented village processing to precise washed methods. Ripe cherries are sorted, pulped with eco-friendly machinery, fermented, washed, and slowly dried on raised beds. The cooperative is also experimenting with natural lots. Cup score: 86.5 points.”
