“Behind every cup of this coffee is a group of remarkable women helping reshape Brazil's coffee industry. The Luzia Collective brings together female coffee producers from a Cooperative in Sul de Minas, each contributing cherries from their own farms to create this carefully crafted community lot. By blending harvests from two medium-sized farms and two smaller farms, the project achieves both consistency and traceability. Through the Donas do Café network, established by SMC Specialty Coffee in 2020, members receive ongoing support from agronomists and industry experts while also learning through workshops, courses, cuppings, and online forums. In 2024, more than 70 producers received quality premiums totaling over USD 30,000, reinvested into better equipment, improved infrastructure, and further training. Members also gain access to specialized education in regenerative agriculture, biological pest control, and coffee evaluation. Every bag supports a community of skilled producers who are investing in their farms, sharing knowledge, and helping create a more inclusive specialty coffee industry.”
