Highlights
“Long Miles Coffee, started by Ben and Kristy Carlson, keeps lots separated by hill so quality has a name attached to it. Farmers on Bumba Hill used to walk more than three hours to reach a station with honest scales; Long Miles opened Ninga Washing Station nearby, and this lot is among the first natural coffees to come off that hill. Burundian Red Bourbon at this elevation already carries a lot of sugar — left in the cherry to dry, it turns into strawberry preserves, with cacao nib underneath for spine and hibiscus acidity as it cools. Big and sweet, but structured enough that it never gets sloppy.”
