“Bette Buna is a family-run project in Sidamo, Ethiopia, whose name means House of Coffee. They work directly with local farmers to improve soil health, rebuild agroforestry systems, and ensure only ripe cherries are picked. The farm provides employment for people often excluded from the workforce, including deaf workers, people with impairments, and single mothers. Employees receive weekly transportation, housing, meals, and satellite education for their children during the busy season. The project also distributes over 350,000 climate-adapted seedlings annually to create future income for farming families.”
