Highlights
“Businde Washing Station sits in Kayanza, Burundi's northern coffee-growing province, collecting cherry from roughly 650 smallholder farmers within a few miles of the mill. The station is operated by Matsitsi Trading, founded by Matsitsi Zuberi in 2015. Cherries arrive at Businde and undergo a controlled fermentation followed by about twenty days of drying on raised beds. The result reflects both the high-elevation terrain of Kayanza, between 1,650 and 1,800 meters.”
