“Another Kenya and another peaberry selection, this time from Kambarare. Gerald Njagi is a third generation coffee producer who started Kambarare in 2011 by leasing his first 100 coffee trees. Today, together with his family, they manage around 1000 trees while Gerald oversees the processing and quality control of the farm. What we love about Kambarare is the balance between tradition and experimentation, always trying to push Kenyan coffee forward while protecting the classic profiles that made us fall in love with Kenya in the first place. This lot is part of the Retro 1984 project, a collaboration focused on bringing back the beauty of pure SL variety separations. The name refers to the years before hybrid varieties became dominant in Kenya, returning the focus back to the expressive and complex SL profiles that shaped the identity of Kenyan coffee for decades. For us, this SL28 Peaberry is a perfect example of that idea. Vibrant, juicy, structured, and deeply expressive, with the concentrated sweetness and intensity that we always love in peaberry selections.”
