“Finca Sophia sits high in the misty highlands of Nueva Suiza above Volcán, founded in 2008 by Willem Boot with Helen Russell and David Pohl to test the limits of geisha at extreme elevation. What was once a rugged cattle and vegetable plot is now native shade and geisha above two thousand metres, where the cherry ripens painfully slowly. This is lot 08 from their 2026 private auction, Essence Natural 1, a geisha field blend handled as a natural; three and a half kilos came up for sale and there were 481 bids. The cup is dense and sweet without ever feeling heavy: raspberry and passion fruit at the front, rose through the middle, and honeycomb resting at the end.”
