Highlights
“Tegu — 'low place' — comes from the foothills between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Range, where farmers deliver ripe cherries by hand to Tegu Factory in Nyeri. Traditional and modern varieties (SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11 and Batian) grow at roughly 1,700 metres, are pulped and fermented for 12-16 hours, then soaked in clean water for a further 24 hours to sharpen clarity. Drying runs 7-15 days on raised beds inside covered structures before milling for export; sourced through importer Falcon.”
