“Finca Monte de Oro (Mountain of Gold) has been farmed by the Melendez family in Guatemala's Acatenango Valley for more than five generations, and the family helped establish the valley's reputation as a specialty coffee area while championing direct trade. The farm sits between 1,530 and 1,690 metres, where eruptions from neighbouring Fuego and temperate gusts off the Pacific create the marked seasons that let the family sun-dry its cherries. This Maracaturra lot was bought direct by Joe Bean's green buyer, Ben, from Mario Ricardo Alarcón Melendez, co-founder of Truth Trading Company.”
