“Gachatha Coffee Factory sits on the slopes of the Aberdare range in Nyeri County, Kenya. Established in 1963, it serves a cooperative of smallholder producers working deep, well-drained red volcanic soils, offering pre-financing for school fees, farm inputs and emergencies along with training in good farming practice. Ripe cherry is hand-picked, depulped and density sorted, then dry fermented for 12 to 16 hours before washing, grading, soaking and slow drying on raised beds.”
