“Gakuyu-ini Coffee Factory, established in 1982 in Kirinyaga County, serves 900 smallholder producers from Githiru, Gituba and Mukure villages. The Kirinyaga district sits on the southern slopes of Mount Kenya with some of the most fertile soils due to volcanic activity. Affiliated with Thirikwa Farmers' Co-operative Society, the factory processes coffee delivered the same day it is picked.”
