Highlights
“Karatu Coffee Factory was established in 1965 on 11 acres in the Thika District of Kiambu, Kenya, serving Karatu, Gitwe, Kibiru, and Kigaa Villages. This lot is over 90% SL-28 — a Bourbon lineage cultivar prized for big fruit character and juicy profiles. The peaberry selection delivers a balanced cup with zest of melon and candied citrus, solid structure, and tea-like intricacy. After harvest, cherry undergoes disc depulping, 24-hour fermentation, and washing over 72 hours. Farmers also cultivate banana, maize, and shade-providing Grevillea or macadamia trees, while the factory has dug waste water pits to protect local water sources.”
