Highlights
“The Hamasho Borena lot comes from the Hamasho Washing Station, owned and managed by Asefa Dukamo Korma, in the Bombe Mountains of Sidama Bensa near the Oromia border. The station serves 161 smallholder farmers from Bombe Chilaka, Hamasho kebele and Keramo, farming at 2,300-2,400+ m on volcanic soil where JARC 74158 dominates alongside 74112 and 74110. Cool nights and moderate days let the cherry ripen slowly, concentrating sugars and density. Ripe cherries are hand-picked, floated and sorted for density and defects, depulped, barrel-fermented for 72 hours, washed with abundant water, then dried on raised beds for 10-13 days with moisture checks through the day. The cup is clean and easy-drinking, elegantly sweet with subdued acidity and a cascara-tea texture. Variety: Ethiopian Landraces. Region: Sidama, Ethiopia. Process: Fully washed. Harvest: January 2026.”
