Highlights
“Wuri Washing Station sits in Worka-Sakaro, one of the 16 kebeles of Ethiopia's Gedeb district just south of Yirgacheffe; of the 1,276 hectares that make up Worka-Sakaro, 679 are planted with coffee. Randy Evans visited the mill in 2018, and since Ethiopia relaxed export regulations in 2017 private washing stations here have been able to export directly with full traceability. Cherries are sorted, washed and then sun-dried on raised beds for 12-15 days, and the cool highland temperatures slow the plant's growth so the beans carry more sugar.”
