Highlights
“Kiangoi is one of the three factories that reopened when 1,150 members of the defunct Ngariama Cooperative formed the Rungeto Cooperative Society in 1997, alongside Kii and Karimikui. Member growers deliver cherry to mills washed with cold water drawn from the Kii River, where it is sorted, pulped, fermented overnight, washed and graded, then dried on raised beds for eight to fourteen days. The cooperative now counts around 7,800 members farming loamy clay soil between 1,600 and 1,800 metres. This is raw, unroasted green coffee and must be roasted before brewing.”
