“Dagoberto Santos Contreras is a second-generation coffee farmer in the Chirinos district of Peru. Together with his wife Maria Fernandez Izquierda, they are central figures in the PAWQARA co-op, a women-led community founded in 2022 to sell high-quality coffees directly. Their 5-hectare farm has 3 hectares planted with coffee, and they recently built a new family home and upgraded their pulping machine. PAWQARA brings together families from Pirias, El Corazón, La Lima, Shimanía Baja and Alta, and Balcones, with a quality control laboratory giving producers confidence at delivery.”
