Highlights
“Hacienda La Luisa was established in 1954, when a family of German origin bought what was then mostly dairy farmland in Sarchi, in Costa Rica's Western Valley; coffee and sugar cane later became its focus. This lot is San Isidro, a Sarchimor-family cultivar bred in Costa Rica from Villa Sarchi and Timor, grown here between 1,450 and 1,800 metres on volcanic soil. Cherries were dried whole on raised African beds for 10 to 15 days, turned by hand around three times a day and covered at night, then travelled nine kilometres to the mill still in their dried cherry form. Owner Mario Barquero.”
