Highlights
“Banko Gotiti is a locality in the Gedeb district of the Gedeo zone, inside Yirgacheffe. The local cooperative was founded in 2012, independently of the larger Worka organisation, and counts around 300 members growing traditional Ethiopian varieties. Smallholders here farm tiny plots, often alongside other crops, and normally work without fertiliser or pesticide, bringing cherries to the nearby station where they are weighed, sorted and processed in daily lots. Cherries are pulped, fermented and washed before drying, and Dalston recommends this washed lot for filter.”
