“This coffee comes from the Virunga region in North Kivu, bordering Uganda and Rwanda. The terroir is ideal for high quality fruity coffees with a heavy mouthfeel and unique black tea and vanilla notes. This lot comes from the washing station in Virunga, a region famous for the Virunga National Park where rangers protect gorillas from poachers. After a decline during civil war and coffee plant disease in the 1990s, coffee production in DRC has seen a resurgence over the last couple of decades.”
