Highlights
“Yaritza Alvear runs Finca la Orquídea with her mother Mariela, a lifelong coffee farmer who at 73 still upholds the tradition of fully washed processing. In 2017, Yaritza — then a coffee instructor — received 200 grams of washed Gesha for a workshop. Her mother found the seeds in a desk drawer and decided to start a seedbed, germinating the first Gesha seedlings at La Orquídea. Today they harvest seeds from those original plants to cultivate more Gesha.”
