Highlights
“Ansi sits in Yemen's Dhamar Governorate, south of Sana'a, where coffee grows on ancient stone terraces and in fertile valley pockets between roughly 1,500 and 2,200 metres. Production is dominated by small family farms working with generations of inherited knowledge: multiple picking passes for ripe cherry only, then the natural, sun-dried processing that is the regional standard, on rooftops or raised beds before hulling and sorting. This lot reaches the US through Pearl of Tehama, the exporter founded in 2015 by Fatoum Muslot as an extension of her father Ali Hiba Muslot's long-running coffee business - one of Yemen's first female exporters, working to widen farmer market access while keeping quality-focused production. In the cup it is a dried-fruit bomb: raspberry and fruit leather up front, apricot and red flower behind, and a creamy cascara sweetness through the finish. Varieties: Yemeni heirloom, natural rooftop and raised-bed dried. Growers: small lot farmers from the high terraces of Ansi. 340 g (12 oz) bag at USD 28.00.”
